Nigeria must do more to fight poverty - Pastor Adeboye

Nigeria must do more to fight poverty - Pastor Adeboye

Nigeria must do more to fight poverty - Pastor Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has said the recent report that Nigeria is the poorest in the world is the hypocrisy of the West against Africans.
However, he said it should propel Nigerian leaders to do more in the fight against corruption and fighting poverty. According to a report by Punch, Adeboye stated this recently in Lagos at a special prayer and thanksgiving service organised by the RCCG National Headquarters, Throne of Grace Parish.  The cleric said western countries also had the “poorest of the poor” among them but oftentimes were underreported.
He said, “you will move round some so-called developed countries and one will be shocked by the level of poverty that the people are experiencing.”
Adeboye, who spoke through his Assistant General Overseer, Personnel and Administration, Pastor Johnson Odesola, asked, “Who is doing the categorisation of developed countries and some undeveloped countries. It is the opinion of the few people whose facts can be contested. When they talk, they talk about the things that favour them and they want us to continue in the trajectory that our system is failing so that they will continue to benefit from our failures.”
Still, he urged the government at all levels to use the report as an opportunity to double their fight against the scourge of poverty and inequality ravaging our country.

' I cannot be impeached, I will never step down as Senate President' -Saraki says

'' I cannot be impeached, I will never step down as Senate President' -Saraki says Home » Entertainment » '' I cannot be impeached, I will never step down as Senate President' -Saraki says Senate President Bukola Saraki, today reinstated his decision not to step down as the president of the senate. Recall that his former party, APC, has insisted that since his defection to the PDP, it would be honorable for him to relinquish the senate president's seat for a member of the APC. The party chairman, Adams Oshiomole, has repeatedly stated that if Saraki does not resign honorably, he would be impeached. Saraki who visited Niger state today for consultations on his presidential bid, spoke with newsmen and vowed not to step down. According to Saraki, the APC is currently the minority in the senate and therefore don’t have the powers to carry out the impeachment threat. “The APC members know that we are in the majority and whatever they want to do they know that they don’t have the number. The other kite they are trying to fly is asking me to step down from my seat, but I can tell you that this cannot be possible as I will not step down. One thing is very clear and that is to say that I will not sacrifice the interest of the country for my personal interest and in the last three years as a Senate president, I have demonstrated that my interest is second to that of national interest,” he said

Nigeria and China to sign $328 Million agreement on ICT as President Buhari arrives BeijingOn Saturday, President Buhari arrived Beijing to attend the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) holding September 3 - 4, 2018. During the 6-day official visit of the Nigerian President, he is expected to join his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping to witness the signing of an agreement on the National Information and Communication Technology Infrastructure Backbone Phase 11 (NICTIB 11) between Galaxy Backbone Limited and Huawei Technologies Limited (HUAWEI) at the cost of US $328 million facility provided by the Chinese EXIM Bank. The bank facility is for the development of NICTIB 11 project which is consistent with the current administration’s commitment to incorporating the development of ICT into national strategic planning under the National Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP). President Buhari and his Chinese host will also witness the signing of the MOU on One Belt One Road Initiative (OBOR). It may be recalled that in 2013, the Chinese leader proposed the initiative of building the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road, with a view to integrating the development strategies of partnering countries. During the High-Level Dialogue between Chinese and African Leaders and Business representatives on the margins of FOCAC, the Nigerian delegation is also expected to sign no fewer than 25 MOUs, including those proposed by the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), and Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA). Earlier, the President on arrival at Capital International Airport, Beijing at about 9:04 am (Nigerian time), was received by top Chinese government officials including the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr Zhou Pingjian. Nigeria’s Ambassador to China, Baba Ahmed Jidda and his wife Zahra; the Deputy Chief of Mission, Ambassador Bakori Aliyu Usman; Consular-General of Nigeria, Guangzhou, Shairudeen Oloko; Consular-General of Nigeria, Shanghai, Anderson Madubuike; and Defence Attaché, Brig-Gen. Temitope Ademola were also among those who received the President. President Buhari will tomorrow meet Nigerians living in China before the kick-off of FOCAC on Monday when he will join President Jinping and other African leaders for roundtable sessions which will essentially discuss the report of FOCAC since the 2015 Johannesburg Summit, including the implementation of the ‘‘ten cooperation plans’’ adopted at the last meeting. The Summit is also expected to adopt the Beijing Declaration and the Action Plan for the development of China-Africa cooperation and fashion out new opportunities to grow Nigeria-China comprehensive strategic partnership from 2019 to 2021.The post Nigeria and China to sign $328 Million agreement on ICT as President Buhari arrives Beijing appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.

Bishop Charles Ellis apologies for groping Ariana Grande at Aretha Franklin's funeralThe Bishop who officiated Aretha Franklin’s funeral, Charles H. Ellis III, has come under fire for groping singer Ariana Grande shortly after her performance at the event. Bishop Ellis had invited Grande to the podium, and made sexually awkward jokes. He also appeared to severally grope the singer's under boobs. Ellis has however apologised for his actions after public outrage saying, "It would never be my intention to touch any woman’s breast" he told The Associated Press at the cemetery where Franklin was interred late Friday."I don’t know I guess I put my arm around her. Maybe I crossed the border, maybe I was too friendly or familiar but again, I apologize. I personally and sincerely apologize to Ariana and to her fans and to the whole Hispanic community. When you’re doing a program for nine hours you try to keep it lively, you try to insert some jokes here and there,” he said.See the video below....this is literally disgusting. & the way he does it multiple times... how does he think that's ok or comfortable ? pic.twitter.com/uQbJJHu8mO— anouska (@grandesecIipse) August 31, 2018The post Bishop Charles Ellis apologies for groping Ariana Grande at Aretha Franklin's funeral appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
